The Community Group was founded on the principle that quality early education and care are essential to equity and opportunity. Since we opened as a single preschool center in 1970, The Community Group has grown to meet the changing needs of Greater Lawrence with award-winning educational programs for children and families, also offering robust training and professional development for educators.

From a foundation of deep expertise and strong community partnerships, we support the healthy development of children and families through:

  • A highly successful pre-K-8 public charter school serving 1,200 Lawrence children
  • Education and care programs for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children

  • Innovative training and professional development programs for child care educators that have informed the efforts of neighboring communities

  • Resources that facilitate access to early education and care for families including connecting families to child care financial assistance

Our programs have transformed the lives of generations of Lawrence families. Today, with direct service programs reaching over 2,400 children and with dozens of new programs creating a pipeline of skilled educators, we continue to uphold our promise of delivering families opportunities for a bright future through education.
