Community Day Learning

The Community Group (TCG) was selected by the fund advisors for Greater Lawrence Disaster Relief Fund (GLDRF) to receive a "Relief and Recovery" responsive grant. This grant program was developed for nonprofits in Andover, Lawrence, and North Andover to assist in the development or expansion of programs that directly impact affected residents of the gas crisis.

During the gas crisis, many TCG programs were impacted, including numerous Family Child Care (FCC) programs, child care centers, and after-school programs. This grant will help TCG better prepare to manage potential future crises through the adoption of new technology that enables broad, time-sensitive communications. In addition to improving internal processes, TCG will provide support related to the present and lingering effects of trauma on our providers and clients.

"TCG is grateful to receive this grant from the GLDRF," said TCG Chief Executive Officer Maria Gonzalez Moeller. "This will significantly strengthen our emergency response systems, providing physical and mental support for hundreds of educators and families to continue healing from the gas explosions from September 2018 and to be better prepared should any other crisis occur."

About the Greater Lawrence Disaster Relief Fund
In the wake of the devastating Columbia Gas explosions on Sept. 13, Essex County Community Foundation (ECCF) established the Greater Lawrence Disaster Relief Fund (GLDRF) at the request of Governor Charlie Baker, Andover Town Manager Andrew Flanagan, Lawrence Mayor Dan Rivera, and North Andover Town Manager Andrew Maylor. The Fund was established to serve the short- and medium-term shelter and sustenance concerns of residents and businesses of Lawrence, North Andover and Andover who were part of the 8,570 Columbia Gas customers who were negatively affected by the gas pipeline surge on September 13, 2018.
